"Mash ups" of the latest trends and the infallible classics seem to be the in thing these days. Most curious is the rise in popularity of zombies being merged with things otherwise considered to be cute and cuddly, or prim and proper. For example, the ever popular "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" features a classic portrait of a lady on the front... except she's had her jaw torn off by the undead. How gruesome.. and wonderfully in fashion!

Latest in this trend is "Zombie in Love" a new children's book written by Kelly Dipucchio and illustrated by Scott Campbell. Not unlike the fairy tales of our youth and our parents youth, young Mortimer simply seeks true love. Where it differs is, why yes, Mortimer happens not to be quite so alive. Attempts at working out at the gym cause his arm to fall off, and he's a little too stiff to try ballroom dancing. Cute but wonderfully morbid, "Zombie in Love" is just another strange addition to our ever expanding library of zombie, monster and horror mash ups. Neat!
